About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Medical Scheduler schedules patient appointments and tests efficiently and promptly, serving as a liaison between patients and medical staff. The position supports and adheres to the Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. This is a contract-to-hire role based onsite in Odessa, Texas.

Requirements

Where applicable, basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures, including coding and the ability to look up relevant codes.

Responsibilities

Schedule returning patients in the computer system in accordance with physician and office guidelines.
Cancel and reschedule appointments in response to physician schedule changes and notify appropriate clinic personnel.
Maintain the primary office scheduling template, including physician meetings, satellite schedules, rounding, and call coverage.
Arrange financial counseling for patients as needed.
Protect patient and clinic/practice confidentiality.
Follow policies and procedures that contribute to front-office efficiency and cover other front-office functions as requested.
Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other typed materials as requested by the supervisor.
May schedule post-operative follow-up appointments with physicians.
Where applicable, use basic medical terminology knowledge for tests and surgical procedures, including coding and looking up codes specific to diagnosis, surgery, and scheduling procedures.
