The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for receipt and preparation of all materials related to internal and external correspondence and requests for medical records information. The Medical Records Clerk abstracts and assembles patient discharge records in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Glen Oaks Hospital.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Typing 50 wpm
Various computer and word processing programs.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of an approved school of health information science.
One year of medical records experience and/or clerical background.
Psychiatric setting experience.
Knowledge of medical, psychiatric and medical records terminology, procedures and functions.
Knowledge of confidentiality and release of information laws.

Responsibilities
