About The Position

The Medical Patient Concierge at Standing Akimbo in Denver owns relationships, purchasing plans, and gross profit performance for the store’s Extended Plant Count (EPC) medical patients. The concierge is the dedicated contact for this patient portfolio, planning product needs, pricing and selling products to maximize gross profit while keeping every patient within their verified purchase limit. The role coordinates special orders and margin targets with retail leadership, maintains clear shared documentation of patient communications, and aims for EPC patient gross-profit growth, disciplined margins, zero compliance errors, and an exceptional patient experience. This is a salaried, exempt, on-site role with no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of cannabis retail experience, ideally in a medical or patient-facing role, with a track record of building lasting customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated sales ability focused on margin and product mix, not volume alone.
  • Strong understanding of Colorado medical cannabis rules, including EPC patients, purchase limits and recommendations, and documentation requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to keep patient files and account plans complete and current.
  • Empathy, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive patient information and urgent or after-hours patient needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Availability for opening and closing shifts, and for patient communications outside store hours and on weekends as needed.
  • At least 21 years of age, as required by Colorado state law.
  • Active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge, or ability to obtain one before starting.
  • Active Responsible Vendor Training (RVT) certificate recognized by the Colorado MED, or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods in a retail environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Cova or a comparable cannabis point-of-sale system.
  • Understanding of gross margin, cost of goods, and special-order sourcing.
  • Strong analytical skills, comfort reviewing monthly reports and acting on insights, and proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Own the relationship, contact plan, and account plan for every EPC patient, using recurring proactive outreach to anticipate needs and help patients meet their full allowed need.
  • Respond to patient communications within two hours during store hours and manage communications outside store hours and on weekends as expected.
  • Maintain transparent documentation of patient communications and current account plans in a shared location for the Director of Retail and Category Manager.
  • Plan patient product needs and special orders with the Director of Retail and Category Manager, recommending products to order and appropriate selling margins.
  • Sell special orders at the agreed gross margin, avoid discounting, recommend suitable higher-margin products, and follow agreed margin guardrails.
  • Verify that every sale stays within the patient’s verified purchase limit in Cova; keep limits and recommendations current and prepare approval requests when required.
  • Ensure patient interactions and transactions comply with state and local cannabis regulations, avoiding purchase-limit violations and compliance or procedural errors.
  • Review monthly gross-profit reports from Finance; track retention, special orders, margin and mix, and visit frequency; recommend program changes during quarterly reviews.
  • Ring up and sell to EPC patients with a personalized in-store experience, assist as a budtender when lines grow, open and close the store as scheduled, and support store initiatives as needed.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation of $60,000, depending on experience.
  • Monthly incentive equal to 10% of Standing Akimbo Denver store-wide gross profit dollars above a fixed monthly baseline, paid monthly and capped annually under plan terms.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance beginning on the first of the month after employment begins.
  • Short- and long-term disability, voluntary life insurance, HSA, FSA, Dependent Care, and EAP services.
  • Accrued PTO, plus two Wellness Days and Volunteer Hours that increase with tenure.
  • 401(k) program with an employer match after six months of employment.
  • Employee discounts.
