About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). The role involves coverage in outpatient, inpatient, and infusion center settings, with an average of 8-10 patients per day. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. No call or weekends are required. The patient population is adult. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Credentialing typically takes 30-90 days.

Requirements

• Active Washington licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS certification
• Minimum 1-year Medical Oncology experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Washington OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
