Medical Learning Designer

Neko Health•New York, NY
•$153,000 - $187,000

About The Position

Neko Health is hiring a Learning & Development designer to lead how clinicians and operators learn. This is a builder role: the curriculum, asset library, and production process are still to be created. The designer will serve as the production engine for clinical and operator learning, deciding how learning should be delivered, creating the learning assets, and improving the efficiency and maintainability of production. The role involves designing curricula and programs for Neko’s clinical populations, creating modular e-learning, video, job aids, and facilitator guides, and maintaining an asset library and auditable training records. The designer will work with clinicians, operators, and Engineering to reflect real-world practice, specify and validate virtual practice environments, and determine whether learning improves performance using assessment and quality data.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of instructional or learning design experience, including ownership of design decisions and a portfolio of products built.
  • At least 3 years applying adult learning and competency-based design, with the ability to explain how design choices serve learning objectives.
  • At least 3 years authoring e-learning, video, and written materials using current industry tools.
  • At least 3 years designing assessments, including rubrics and observation instruments, not only knowledge checks.
  • At least 3 years working with subject matter experts to turn their knowledge into accurate, learnable content.
  • At least 2 years writing requirements for a technical team and seeing them through to a working product.
  • At least 2 years working with learning platforms and understanding how content is packaged, delivered, and tracked, plus the ability to learn a new platform quickly.
  • A practical, curious, and rapid prototyping approach, with a preference for building maintainable solutions and testing rough versions with learners early.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or another regulated environment where content is reviewed before release.
  • Experience designing simulation- or scenario-based learning, including the debrief.
  • Experience designing digital learning for localization and accessibility.
  • Direct experience with Sana or a similar AI-powered learning platform.
  • A qualification in instructional design, learning technology, or education.

Responsibilities

  • Design curricula and programs for every Neko clinical population, with learning objectives expressed in observable performance terms.
  • Create modular learning assets across e-learning, video, job aids, and facilitator guides so protocol changes can be updated without rebuilding entire courses.
  • Own the learning asset library, including its taxonomy and decisions about when assets should be retired.
  • Write learning requirements for virtual practice environments and validate that Engineering’s implementations teach the intended skills.
  • Design assessments, including rubrics, checklists, and observation tools that can be applied consistently by different assessors.
  • Elicit expertise from clinicians and operators and shadow clinical teams to ensure learning designs reflect real practice.
  • Evaluate learning’s effect on practice using assessment and quality data rather than completion figures, and improve or retire ineffective learning.
  • Administer learning systems and maintain an auditable training record for every clinician and operator, including the protocol version each person has trained to.
