Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role involves performing laboratory testing and related specimen handling, result review, reporting, and recordkeeping in accordance with established laboratory procedures and applicable safety and regulatory guidelines. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The stated pay range starts at $24.52 per hour; an employee may be eligible for a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours. Annual performance bonus compensation may also be available.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct problems or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
