About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its laboratory in Carmel, Indiana. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with rotational weekend work. The role involves analyzing specimens using approved testing procedures, reviewing and releasing test results, and following established laboratory procedures and regulatory and safety guidelines. The stated pay range starts at $24.52 per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differentials and annual performance bonus compensation, subject to the terms described by the company.

Requirements

• A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
• One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
• Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test-result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
