About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Tampa, Florida laboratory. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotational weekends. Relocation assistance may be considered. The pay range starts at $30.00 per hour; offers depend on factors including skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. The role performs laboratory testing and related work involving specimen handling, test analysis, result review and release, and patient-result records. The technologist follows applicable laboratory procedures and regulatory and safety requirements, helps maintain testing quality, and addresses or escalates problems affecting test performance or reporting.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
