Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Micro
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Micro laboratory in Tampa, Florida. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotational weekends. Relocation assistance will be considered. The position involves analyzing specimens using approved procedures, reviewing and releasing test results, and following laboratory, regulatory, and safety requirements. Pay starts at $30.00 per hour. Salary offers are based on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test-result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
