Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I to perform clinical laboratory testing in Irving, Texas. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role involves handling and processing specimens, conducting analyses using approved procedures, reviewing and releasing results, maintaining records, and following laboratory policies and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. Candidates may range from entry-level to experienced, and training and benefits are offered. Pay starts at $29.50 per hour; eligible candidates may also receive annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
