About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Indianapolis, Indiana laboratory. The role involves performing laboratory testing and handling specimens in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory, privacy, and safety guidelines. The position is on-call. The listed pay starts at $24.52 per hour; offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Requirements

A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
Review and release test results.
Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside the laboratory’s acceptable performance levels.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
