Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its laboratory in Irving, Texas. The role involves handling and processing specimens, performing laboratory analyses, reviewing and releasing results, and maintaining patient-test records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable guidelines. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay starts at $29.50 per hour; offers may depend on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market factors, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify issues that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
