Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its laboratory in Tucker, Georgia. The position is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The role involves processing and analyzing clinical specimens, reviewing and releasing test results, maintaining records, and following laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory procedures. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible external candidates, and relocation assistance will be considered. The pay range starts at $30.00 per hour; eligible employees may receive a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Annual performance bonus compensation may also be available. Salary offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
