Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Clinical Laboratory - Auto Chemistry department in Clifton, New Jersey. The role involves handling and processing specimens, performing high-complexity laboratory testing, reviewing and releasing test results, maintaining records, and following laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, with rotational weekend work. Pay ranges from $27.95 to $46.12 per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differentials and annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
