About The Position

This position is for a Medical Lab Technician II at AAMC Lab, working Full Time on the First Shift. The role requires an Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration with a specific military occupational specialty. Relevant experience is preferred, along with the ability to concentrate, pay close attention to detail, and possess analytical skills for determining proper specimen containers and storage. Interpersonal skills are needed for effective communication with physicians and other personnel. A minimum license requirement of MLT: ASCP registered or eligible is necessary. The physical requirements include walking or standing up to eighty percent of the work time, with frequent changes in priority of duties. The technician must be able to determine the appropriateness of laboratory orders and have the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. There is occasional exposure to hazardous materials. External applicants and incumbents who become disabled must be able to perform essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution OR Official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and holds/held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
  • MLT: ASCP registered or eligible
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
