About The Position

Provides exceptional patient care by delivering, setting-up and providing instruction on the proper use and care of equipment in a compassionate and respectful manner. This role involves delivering and picking up equipment from homecare patients, setting up equipment, and instructing patients on its proper care and use. The technician will also assist patients in solving problems regarding equipment use.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to remain professional in stressful situations.
Must be able to pass applicable background check for location.

Have and maintain a valid Chauffer’s license.
Working knowledge and comfort with smart phones.
Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using a calculator.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Valid Chauffer’s License
Maintain a valid DOT Physical exam, where applicable.
Annual MVR
Annual TB Test
Random Drug Screens
Maintain passable State Criminal/State and National Sex Offender record
Must be able to pass the Department of Transportation physical.
All employees are required to work in a safe manner
Wear PPE as required.
Orientation and selected courses must be completed in the designated time frame.
Must pass assigned competencies within 90 days.

Previous DME experience or relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivers and picks up equipment from homecare patients.
Sets up equipment and instructs patients on the proper care and use of the equipment.
Assists patients in solving problems regarding equipment use.
Deliver and/or pick up, on average, 3-4 medical and/or standard beds per day with the potential for more than average on any given day.
Loads and unloads equipment onto delivery vehicle.
Verifies all equipment and additional stock is loaded before leaving for deliveries.
Complete vehicle inspection and ensure vehicle meets policy guidelines.
Makes contact with patient with estimated time of delivery.
Review daily orders/deliveries and communicates with dispatch regarding necessary changes.
Follows numerical delivery route unless directed by dispatch.
Dispatch must be notified of any route changes immediately.
Completes, maintains and signs the drivers log on a daily basis.
Logs in and updates driver management system as day progresses.
Responds to emergency calls and new patient orders to deliver equipment as needed during regular business hours and during on-call rotation.
Complete and turn in all paperwork at the end of each workday.
Notify manager if you suspect physical abuse, an unsafe home environment or unsanitary conditions while making a delivery.
Follows the Medial Equipment Technician Work Instructions (DTWI001).
Completes warehouse duties during slow periods.
Cleans equipment as needed.
Regular onsite attendance and punctuality.
Responsible for delivery in all of Hart’s delivery area, not just home location.
Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
Maintain an active chauffer’s license at all times.
Other duties as requested by management.
