About The Position

The Medical Doctor (MD) provides comprehensive, high-quality medical care to patients in accordance with established clinical standards, evidence-based practices, and applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements. The physician evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients across the lifespan while promoting preventive care, health education, and improved health outcomes. The MD works collaboratively with clinical and care coordination teams to ensure continuity of care and supports the mission and goals of the organization.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in the State of North Carolina.
  • Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in the applicable medical specialty.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered, culturally responsive, and equitable healthcare.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an FQHC, community health center, or other outpatient healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with underserved or medically underserved populations.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, preferably EPIC.
  • Experience participating in quality improvement and population health initiatives.
  • Bilingual/Spanish Speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment for patients.
  • Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory, diagnostic, and imaging studies.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide preventive healthcare, health education, and counseling to patients and families.
  • Manage acute and chronic medical conditions and coordinate appropriate referrals to specialists.
  • Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, care coordinators, behavioral health providers, pharmacy staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Coordinate with the Care Coordination Team to support patient needs, follow-up care, referrals, and continuity of services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, population health, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, peer review, case consultation, and other organizational activities as required.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up and continuity of care for patients.
  • Maintain compliance with FQHC requirements, organizational policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Participate in community health initiatives and activities that support the organization's mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
