About The Position

Pulse Primary Care is seeking an experienced Part-Time Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) to join our Springfield, Massachusetts primary care practice. This is an on-site physician position designed for a provider who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered primary care while also providing physician leadership, clinical guidance, and appropriate oversight to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants within the practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong primary care background, excellent clinical judgment, and prior experience working with or supervising Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another appropriate primary care specialty.
  • Active DEA registration and appropriate Massachusetts controlled-substance authority, as applicable to the position.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain all required credentialing, licensing, continuing education, and professional requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing outpatient primary care strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising, collaborating with, or providing clinical oversight to Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, medication management, preventive care, and chronic disease management.
  • Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the physician's scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and care plans.
  • Order, review, and interpret appropriate laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, and other clinical services.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable federal and Massachusetts requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide physician supervision, collaboration, consultation, and clinical oversight for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as required by Massachusetts law, applicable regulations, payer requirements, and Pulse Primary Care policies.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to APPs and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assist with clinical training, mentoring, and professional development of providers as appropriate.
  • Provide consultation on complex patient cases and assist with escalation of clinical concerns.
  • Promote adherence to evidence-based medicine, clinical protocols, quality standards, and patient-safety expectations.
  • Participate in quality improvement and compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with practice leadership regarding clinical operations, provider performance, workflow, and patient-care concerns.
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, families, clinical staff, specialists, hospitals, pharmacies, and other members of the care team.
  • Perform other physician responsibilities consistent with the position and within the physician's lawful scope of practice.
