About The Position
A healthcare organization is seeking a highly experienced Medical Biller with a strong background in addiction treatment and substance use disorder billing. The role is responsible for managing medical billing processes, ensuring accurate claim submissions, resolving billing discrepancies, and following up with insurance companies to support timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the billing requirements of addiction treatment services, understands insurance reimbursement procedures, and can independently manage billing challenges while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
- Prior medical billing experience in addiction treatment or substance abuse services.
- Strong understanding of insurance billing, claims processing, and reimbursement procedures.
- Experience handling claim denials, appeals, and insurance follow-up.
- Knowledge of billing practices specific to addiction treatment services.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot billing issues and work independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic claims systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA requirements and patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Manage medical billing processes for addiction treatment and substance abuse services.
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate insurance claims.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and billing information.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and unpaid balances.
- Investigate and resolve denied, rejected, or underpaid claims.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding reimbursement and payment issues.
- Review billing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor accounts receivable and identify opportunities to improve collections.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
- Identify and correct coding or billing discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing-related issues.
- Ensure billing practices follow applicable insurance requirements and healthcare regulations.
