About The Position

South College is seeking a Program Director for the Medical Assisting Program at the brand-new Columbus Campus! This position is full-time on-site in Dublin, OH. The MA Program Director provides leadership for the Certificate in Medical Assisting programs. The applicant must be committed to innovative and relevant education for students.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Have received instruction in educational theory and techniques.
  • Be credentialed in good standing in MA (see below for details).
  • Have been employed a minimum of 3 years in a healthcare facility including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by MAs.
  • Have a minimum of one-year teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education
  • MA Credential Details a. Must have earned and be able to document a Medical Assisting credential from a NCCA accredited credentialing organization, or b. Qualify for, and earn the, RMA credential by: Being employed as a medical assistant for a minimum of five out of the last seven years, no more than two years of which may have been as an instructor in a post-secondary medical assistant program. Work experience must include both clinical and both clinical and administrative duties, or, alternately, Having five years of full-time employment in a healthcare field within the past seven years (may be a combination of part-time settings), and 40 hours experience in an ambulatory care setting performing and/or observing psychomotor and affective domain objectives appropriate to the MA curriculum.
  • The selected candidate must sit for an MA credentialing examination and earn the MA credential.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration and consultation with faculty to promote maximum commitment and results
  • Maintaining high standards of instruction and service
  • leading accreditation and self-study efforts
  • Completing and administering annual budget
  • Recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty
  • Organizing student advising procedures, faculty teaching loads, and quarterly class schedules
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with practicum sites
  • Supporting collaboration with other programs for interprofessional educational opportunities
  • Representing the MA program, as well as in the community at large
