About The Position

Black Hawk College seeks a full-time Medical Assisting Program Director to teach classes in and manage the Medical Assisting and Medical Coding Programs. This is an in-person position at our Quad Cities Campus in Moline, IL that will include supervising clinical rotations and internships. This is a grant funded position. The Program Director for the Medical Assisting Programs is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, supervision and evaluation of all instruction and related program management activities including clinical/internship coordination. As a full-time faculty, the Program Director is also expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students' educational experience; develop and execute appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance; develop, secure, and maintain the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of an associate degree.
  • Be credentialed in good standing in medical assisting, by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or under International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
  • Have medical or allied health education or training.
  • Have experience related to the profession of medical assisting.
  • Have documented education in instructional methodology.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, staff and students.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize workload, accurate record keeping, and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to adapt to and encourage positive change.
  • Oral English proficiency for classroom instruction is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Instructional methodology education may be demonstrated by documentation of completed workshops, in-service sessions, seminars, or completed college courses on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques.
