About The Position

The Toledo Clinic’s Internal Medicine Department in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant. The role assists providers with patient treatment, prepares patients for providers, and performs clerical duties. The Medical Assistant works under the supervision of the Office Manager. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The clinic offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus to qualified Medical Assistants. For employees with active, verified credentials, the bonus is payable within 30 days of hire; for employees who have not yet obtained or renewed a credential, it is payable once the credential is obtained and verified. After one year of service, qualified Medical Assistants may be eligible for an additional $2,000 retention bonus.

Requirements

• Complete a Medical Assisting degree or diploma program at an accredited school.
• Hold a Medical Assistant credential, such as CMA, RMA, or CCMA.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
• Complete tasks within established time frames.
• Adhere to clinic policies and procedures.
• Wear appropriate, professional attire.
• Seek additional appropriate tasks when primary tasks are complete and assist coworkers as needed.
• Demonstrate adaptability to expanded roles.
• Meet the Medicare Exclusion List requirement.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care, including assistance with minor procedures or surgeries such as removing sutures, staples, and moles.
• Perform clerical duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and handling patient charts.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Prepare exam rooms.
• Prepare patients for providers by obtaining histories, blood pressure, and vital signs.
• Sterilize and prepare instruments.
• Call in prescription refills at the physician’s request.
• Order and maintain exam-room supplies and instruments.
• Follow up on laboratory work and X-rays.
• Administer injections.
• Arrive on time and adhere to the regular work schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
