About The Position

Medical Assistants work collaboratively in a clinic or practice environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals. They facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience, including preparing the room and patient, conducting clinical tasks, and completing administrative duties. The role may also include performing or assisting with in-office procedures and treatments. The posting indicates that a four- or five-day-a-week schedule may be considered.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of an accredited or approved MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT program, or Paramedic program.
• If the candidate has not completed an MA program, externship, or internship, at least two years of clinical experience providing clinical support in a community-based clinic is required, along with standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
• New graduate or at least one year of previous clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms and prepare patients.
• Take manual and electronic vital signs.
• Perform EKGs.
• Draw blood and administer injections and immunizations.
• Perform point-of-care tests.
• Perform pharmacology-related duties.
• Complete administrative duties.
• Perform or assist with in-office procedures and treatments, as needed.
