About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by a physician and/or advanced practice provider. The role supports patients throughout their visits and helps ensure the clinic is organized, clean, and prepared for care.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree.
Graduation from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school or program, or three years of MA experience.
Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

Responsibilities

Enter, maintain, and report medical history and medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Support patient visits by greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms and/or taking vital signs and other relevant medical information to support the reason for the visit and recommended treatment.
Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; disinfect, organize, and prepare exam rooms for incoming patients.
Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
Help maintain inventory and stock supplies, instruments, and equipment for exam rooms.
Maintain inventory paperwork and review received orders for completeness.
Address and request referrals and insurance authorizations, and relay patient information for prescription, x-ray, or lab requisitions to appropriate parties, including pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
