About The Position

The Medical Assistant – Occupational Health supports the onboarding of new caregivers and the ongoing health needs of existing caregivers, as well as patients. The role includes drawing blood and working with occupational health professionals, including nurses and Patient Service Specialists. The ideal candidate provides empathetic, confidential care, aligns with quality, safety and teamwork values, and can thrive in a high-volume environment. The position works day shifts on a rotating schedule between Marymount Sports Health Center and Main Campus. Travel to other Cleveland Clinic locations may be needed. The Medical Assistant works under physician or nurse supervision to assist with assessments and treatments and performs related clinical and administrative duties.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting Program.
Demonstrated clinical proficiency.
Completion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experience.
Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within the new-hire period.
Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) is considered.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant (MA) Certification.
Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship.

Responsibilities

Utilize medical and administrative skills to support patients and caregivers.
Under physician or nurse supervision, assist with performing assessments and treatments.
Gather and update health-maintenance information and collect specimens.
Draw blood.
Document patient care.
Identify medication changes and update allergies at each visit.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Administer specific medications under physician direction.
Maintain exam rooms, equipment and medical supplies.
Assist with pre-visit planning and update health-maintenance tabs.
Complete filing, reception duties, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
Travel to other Cleveland Clinic locations as needed.
