Medical Assistant l Occupational Health Clinic
About The Position
Emplify Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for its Occupational Health department. This role extends beyond traditional patient rooming and includes occupational health testing and special exams for various companies. The Medical Assistant works with providers, nurses, medical professionals, and leaders to support patients’ health journeys. This position is .9 FTE, scheduled for 72 hours bi-weekly, Monday through Friday on day shifts between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The role requires travel between Occupational Health locations in La Crosse and Onalaska, and potentially Winona and Tomah. Weekend and holiday hours are not required.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant, Practical Nursing, or Vocational Nurse program, or completion of education that makes the candidate eligible for NCLEX-PN; alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent and a Medical Assistant Certification.
- BLS certification for healthcare workers.
- Medical Assistant Certification within 15 months of hire.
- Willingness to travel between Occupational Health locations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, obtain vital signs, and update patient information in the charting system.
- Conduct drug screens and breath alcohol testing after in-house training.
- Perform hearing tests and pulmonary function tests after training at the University of Minnesota.
- Perform point-of-care urinalysis dip testing.
- Carry out special exams for various companies.
- Partner with providers, nurses, medical professionals, and leaders to support patients and the team.
