Medical Assistant, Charleston Plastic Surgery
About The Position
Charleston Plastic Surgery is seeking a certified Medical Assistant to join its patient-centered practice, which specializes in full-body cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. The practice has two board-certified plastic surgeons, a nurse practitioner, and a licensed esthetician, and is focused on compassionate, exceptional aesthetic and reconstructive care. The Medical Assistant supports patient care and clinic operations, including triaging and rooming patients, assisting surgeons during consultations and procedures, coordinating appointments, and providing administrative support. The role requires flexibility to travel between the practice’s Mt. Pleasant and Summerville locations as needed.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA, CMA, or RMA).
- At least 1 year of experience.
- Strong organizational skills and a polished, professional demeanor.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to support patients through pre- and post-operative care with empathy and compassion.
- Willingness to travel between the Mt. Pleasant and Summerville locations as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in plastic surgery.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience with NextGen EMR, LeadingReach, and Rhinogram.
- Previous experience or knowledge of Obagi, Jane Iredale, and Tizo skincare products.
Responsibilities
- Triage and room patients.
- Assist surgeons during consultations and procedures.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and verify insurance benefits.
- Scan records and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with HIPAA and medical protocols.
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, efficient workspace.
- Float between the front and back office as needed.
- Support patients through pre- and post-operative care with sensitivity and understanding.
- Travel between the Mt. Pleasant and Summerville locations as needed.
