About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to join its Clinics and Surgery Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is a 1.0 FTE position, equivalent to 80 hours per two-week pay period, and is benefits-eligible. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with no weekends. As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality, patient- and family-centered care by performing a variety of functions to support the healthcare team and patients and families. The Medical Assistant delivers care as delegated by physicians or authorized practitioners, or registered nurses, to assigned patient populations or individual patients. Delegated care may include medication and vaccine administration, injections, phlebotomy, assisting with sterile procedures, and collecting vital signs.

Requirements

Medical Assistant Diploma with proof of completion of a 160-hour externship, or Certified Medical Assistant credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants, or Medical Technologist credential from American Medical Technologists.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

Delivers care as delegated by the physician or authorized practitioner, or RN, to assigned patient populations or individual patients.
Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient and family preferences, and provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician or authorized practitioner and other healthcare team members.
Performs high- and low-risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting, including medication and vaccine administration, specimen collection, and assistance with CPR.
Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to the delegating physician or authorized practitioner, or RN.
Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patients.
Documents care in the medical record.
