About The Position
The Medical Assistant works in Cardiology Specialists of Birmingham at UAB St. Vincent's in Birmingham, Alabama. The role assists with patient examinations and treatment under a physician’s direction, performs selected clinical duties and basic clerical and materials-management tasks, and helps keep the care environment clean and orderly. The schedule is PRN, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Travel to satellite locations is required.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer.
- High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Applicable required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience.

- Medical Assistant preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Assist with treatments ordered by a physician, as supervised by a physician or registered nurse, and perform select clinical duties.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
- Order and stock supplies as part of basic materials-management functions.
- Help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
