About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports cognitive screening and assessment services across one or more partner practices for a specialized cognition-focused medical practice. The practice partners with primary care physicians to identify and support patients with suspected cognitive impairment, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and dementia, bringing specialty-level cognitive care into primary care settings. The role involves administering digital cognitive assessments, preparing patients for cognitive visits, managing documentation, and handling insurance prior authorizations. It combines scheduled in-clinic work with some remote work from home and helps ensure patients are identified, evaluated, and supported promptly and compassionately.

Requirements

Active Medical Assistant credential: CMA, RMA, or CCMA.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong primary care experience, ideally working with senior patients.
Hands-on experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems).
Prior authorization experience.
Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workflows at once.
Warm, patient communication style suited to seniors and families experiencing cognitive health concerns.

Responsibilities

Administer digital cognitive screening tools to patients in clinic and remotely.
Schedule cognition-focused appointments, prepare charts, and gather relevant patient information.
Document screening results accurately in EMR systems and track patients in a customized CRM platform.
Initiate and manage prior authorization requests for diagnostic testing and referrals.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with senior patients and their care partners.
Collaborate with clinical teams at assigned partner practices.
