About The Position

Unity Healthcare is a locally owned, multi-specialty healthcare provider serving North Central Indiana. The Medical Assistant will support patient care and office operations at Gannamaneni Gastroenterology, working under the direction of a Physician and Nurse Practitioner. The part-time position has a flexible schedule, with a minimum commitment of 1–2 days per week, and includes coverage for vacations and unforeseen absences. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and excellent multitasking skills.
• Medical office experience is preferred.
• Allscripts PM/EMR knowledge is preferred.
• Surgical scheduling experience is preferred.
• Experience completing prior authorizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient medical histories and take vital signs to prepare patients for appointments.
• Complete prior authorizations for medications and radiological testing.
• Assist with patient examinations and treatment under the direction of the Physician and Nurse Practitioner.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Document patient information in electronic medical records.
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments and surgeries.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Perform additional administrative duties and projects as needed.
