About The Position

At Virtua Health, the Medical Assistant prepares patients and assists clinical providers with examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social history, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the Medical Assistant’s certification and under physician supervision. This is a regular, part-time, on-site position at the Camden, New Jersey location, working first shift for 30 hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant.
BLS certification.
One to three years of similar job experience in a medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and preparing them for the provider exam.
Prepare examination rooms based on the patient’s chief complaint.
Perform phlebotomy and obtain specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKG and pulmonary function tests, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients regarding prescriptions and test results as directed and under physician supervision.
Perform and document daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain par levels of clinical supplies for the facility.
Perform front desk duties as directed, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
