About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) works within the administration’s predefined scope-of-practice guidelines for the state where they practice. In an ambulatory care setting, the MA collects subjective and objective health-status data from patients or caregivers and communicates it to health care providers. The MA contributes data to licensed health care professionals and follows through on patient care plans under provider direction. They communicate providers’ written care instructions to patients or caregivers using specifically defined information. The MA participates in care across the lifespan and throughout preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up as patients move between care settings. Duties are performed under the direct supervision of a person licensed to practice medicine. Specialized clinical duties include obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, observing and reporting signs or symptoms, and performing point-of-care testing. This is a part-time position in Radiation Oncology, scheduled for 20 hours per week on day shifts. The department schedule has no weekends, holidays, or call. The schedule consists of three 8-hour shifts one week and two 8-hour shifts the next week per pay period.
