About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician’s office under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician and assists the physician with documentation for patients’ medical charts. The role includes rooming patients, preparing charts, serving as a scribe, assisting with in-office procedures, and helping maintain a clean, efficient clinical environment. Clinical skills must remain within the scope defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and CFH Clinical Policy and Procedure. The Medical Assistant may also perform clerical, insurance, and medical-record functions. The position is based in Urogynecology, and the team member may need to float between practices or locations as staffing requires; mileage reimbursement is provided. On-site training and ongoing learning opportunities are available, with training and support for obtaining Medical Assistant certification.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Meet at least one of the following: Medical Assistant certification; two years of direct patient-care experience; or an associate’s degree. The associate’s degree is preferred in a healthcare-related field.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) is required, or must be obtained within the first month of employment and maintained throughout employment.
• Demonstrate initiative and the ability to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
• Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Candidates hired without current Medical Assistant certification must be willing to obtain it within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Associate’s degree, preferably in a healthcare-related field.
• Strong patient-care experience and interest in the role may be considered for candidates who are not currently certified.
