About The Position

Medical Assistants work collaboratively in a clinic or practice environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals. They facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

The role includes preparing the room and patient, taking vital signs, performing EKGs and point-of-care tests, drawing blood, giving injections and immunizations, handling pharmacology and administrative duties, and potentially performing or assisting with in-office procedures and treatments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of an accredited or approved MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT program, or Paramedic program.
• In the absence of a completed MA program, externship, or internship: at least 2 years of clinical experience providing clinical support in a community-based clinic, and successful completion of standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
• New graduate or at least 1 year of previous clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms and prepare patients.
• Take manual and electronic vital signs.
• Perform EKGs.
• Draw blood and administer injections and immunizations.
• Perform office tests, including point-of-care testing.
• Handle pharmacology-related duties.
• Perform administrative duties.
• May perform or assist with in-office procedures and treatments.
