About The Position

MaineHealth Primary Care and Walk-In Care in Belfast is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support providers and clinical staff. The role assists with patient care and clinical and administrative tasks, helping ensure smooth daily operations and patient-centered care in the practice. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week in Belfast, Maine.

Requirements

Meet one of the following qualifications: graduate from an accredited vocational institution or community college Medical Assisting program and complete 160 hours of clinical experience; complete an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and have 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or have 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting. Equivalent experience will be evaluated case by case.
Current BLS certification is required, or must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred.
Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet and prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs, and review medical histories.
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Administer medications and immunizations as directed.
Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record.
Support front-office tasks, including scheduling, referrals, and patient communication.
Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe environment.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide patient-centered care.
