About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports providers at an ambulatory health care site by facilitating patient visits and procedures, performing routine laboratory tests, processing referrals, and contributing to quality outcomes for the practice population. The role also participates in Network quality initiatives focused on best practices. The Medical Assistant prepares exam rooms and treatment areas, rooms patients, supports efficient provider caseload flow, obtains vital signs and performs EKGs or specimen collection as needed, documents care in the EPIC EMR system, performs Point of Care Testing according to the patient’s chief complaint and available protocols, and processes referrals and medication refills. The role maintains positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.

Requirements

Diploma from a Medical Assistant program, or a high school diploma plus 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice.
PMAC Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
Radiology licensure required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Assist providers with patient visits and procedures at an ambulatory health care site.
Perform routine laboratory tests and contribute to quality outcomes for the practice population.
Participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.
Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use, including cleaning and stocking supplies.
Room patients and manage efficient flow of the provider’s caseload.
Obtain vital signs and perform EKGs and/or specimen collection.
Document care using the EPIC EMR system.
Perform Point of Care Testing based on the patient’s chief complaint and available protocols.
Process referrals and medication refills.
Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
