About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides prompt, professional, quality patient care and assists with patient education. The role communicates patient information to and from the physician and provides direct, individualized, goal-directed patient care under physician supervision. The Medical Assistant may also perform other assigned duties within the scope of the role.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, such as a clinical laboratory, physician's office, or emergency medical services.
• Medical training in LPN, laboratory, radiology, medical assisting, emergency medical technology, or physician-office work.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of glucometers, PT/INR machines, wheelchairs, and thermometers.
• Knowledge of urinalysis and EKG testing.
• Organizational skills.
• Oral and written communication skills and computer skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency by passing written and clinical tests.
• Ability to meet the stated physical and sensory requirements, including frequent standing and walking, occasional lifting or carrying and pushing or pulling up to 15 pounds, clear speech, corrected or uncorrected vision of 20/40 or better, normal hearing sensitivity, and ability to distinguish color.

Nice To Haves

• Active Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred.
