Medical Assistant (MA)
About The Position
The Medical Assistant provides direct nursing care in a medical office setting under the direction of a physician. The role assists medical providers and helps maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with the practice’s policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant supports patient assessment and care planning, documents information in patient medical records, prepares equipment, assists with treatments and procedures, and arranges consultations and testing as ordered by physicians. The position is part of an orthopedic and sports medicine practice within the BHS Physician Network in Houston. The multidisciplinary team provides individualized, patient-centered care from diagnosis through recovery and rehabilitation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program, or three years of relevant work experience in lieu of completing an accredited program.
- CPR certification.
- At least one year of relevant work experience, or three years of relevant work experience in lieu of completing an accredited Medical Assisting Program.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant certification.
Responsibilities
- Assist in assessing patient needs and health plans.
- Complete necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record in accordance with the practice’s charting policy.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians with medical treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Arrange specialized consultations and testing appointments as ordered by physicians.
- Assist medical providers and maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
