About The Position

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic, customer-friendly Medical Assistant to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care under a Provider’s supervision and within the scope of practice, supports clinic operations and patient flow, and may also assist with front-office reception. The role helps ensure patients are treated with respect and dignity and that the clinic and reception area run smoothly. Patient-care duties include assisting Providers with examinations, vitals, procedures, and related processes; administering medications as directed and according to safety protocols; performing blood draws; collecting urine samples for testing, including employer drug screens; and potentially performing splinting and casting. Other urgent-care duties may include sports physicals, ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration. The Medical Assistant promptly reports unusual patient occurrences and safety concerns, follows laboratory and clinical accreditation requirements, and must be proficient with EMR/EHR systems. Additional laboratory responsibilities may include performing authorized moderate-complexity testing in areas such as chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis; conducting and documenting instrument calibrations and quality control; maintaining audit-ready records for COLA inspections; participating in required competency assessments and proficiency testing; processing specimens and entering results into the Laboratory Information System; and promptly notifying the attending Provider of critical results. When supporting front-office reception, the Medical Assistant informs patients and families about wait times, monitors patient flow, and processes discharges, including preparing charges, collecting payments, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts. Other related duties may be assigned under Company policy.
