About The Position

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice, including administrative and clinical procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. This position requires travel between Urgent Care Clinics for coverage.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Less than one year of Medical Assistant experience required.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of ambulatory health care or related health care fields.
• Skill in conflict resolution.
• Ability to use computers.
• Must obtain medical assistant certification within six months of hire or transfer into the position.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• More than one year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for physical examinations; perform point-of-care testing, take vital signs, administer vaccines and medications including injections, verify prescriptions against physician orders, assist with minor surgery, and dispose of biohazardous waste.
• Restock and clean examination and procedure rooms to maintain infection control, clean the sterilizer according to its scheduled maintenance program, and maintain appropriate records.
• Send and receive patient medical records, prior authorizations, and referral information; complete forms and requisitions; verify insurance coverage and patient demographics; and manage and update charts to ensure information is complete and properly filed.
• Support patient scheduling and flow, prepare patients for examinations, collect patient histories, chart information, and relay instructions to patients.
• Follow OSHA guidelines, quality control methods, and the medical assistant scope of practice.
• Perform other duties assigned by management within the job scope.
