About The Position
The Medical Assistant works under the direct authority of a physician in a high-volume outpatient setting. The supervising or delegating physician is responsible for medical assistants performing delegated tasks, and the Medical Assistant is also responsible for carrying out tasks delegated by the physician. As a contributing member of the multidisciplinary health care team, the Medical Assistant communicates patient and significant-other needs to the disciplines involved in the patient's care. The role works with an RN to help develop and implement tasks needed for patients, including sending and tracking imaging orders and contacting patients with dates of service. The Medical Assistant maintains adequate documentation in Meditech and must remain task-oriented on lower-volume clinic days while multitasking on high-volume days. The position involves limited hands-on clinical experience with patients.
Requirements
- Graduate from a medical assistant program.
- Hold a valid diploma or current certification to practice as a medical assistant.
Nice To Haves
- Medical assistant certification is preferred.
- Previous work experience is desired; training will be provided for a qualified candidate.
