Medical Assistant - Neurosurgery Clinic

Sanford Health•Fargo, ND

About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) works in an ambulatory care setting within the administration’s predefined scope-of-practice guidelines for the state in which they practice. Under provider direction, the MA contributes data to licensed health care professionals and follows through on patients’ plans of care. The MA communicates providers’ written care instructions by relaying specifically defined information to patients or caregivers and supports patients across the lifespan through preventive care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up as they move between care settings. Duties are performed under the direct supervision of a person licensed to practice medicine. In this Neurosurgery Clinic role, the MA supports patients throughout their surgical journey, coordinates care for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures, provides pre-operative education and post-operative follow-up, and serves as a resource for patients and families. Specialized clinical duties may include obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, observing and reporting signs or symptoms, and performing point-of-care testing. The role works with neurosurgeons, advanced practice providers, and nursing professionals in a fast-paced outpatient specialty clinic. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no evenings, weekends, or call responsibilities. The listed salary range is $17.00–$25.50, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
