About The Position
The Medical Assistant supports a busy Neurosurgery specialty office and works collaboratively with the care team to prepare patients for office visits and support efficient patient flow. The role includes escorting patients to treatment rooms, gathering and documenting pertinent information in medical records, preparing exam and treatment rooms, and assisting with front-office tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least six months of related work experience.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance.
- National Certification as a Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
- Obtain pertinent patient history and enter it into the medical record, including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and an appropriate review of systems.
- Take and document patient vital signs.
- Process and file laboratory and diagnostic test results, correspondence, and clinical notes in patients’ charts after physician review.
- Coordinate patient flow and collaborate with the receptionist to help ensure patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist front-office personnel by answering telephone calls, scheduling patient appointments, and completing other tasks as needed.
