About The Position

Assists providers with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and care coordination to facilitate effective patient care and satisfaction. Provides ancillary services and applies advanced or specialized knowledge or experience integral to the role. This position is in Urgent Care at Woodland Hills, Warren Clinic, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is identified as safety sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act. The role works directly with patients and customers, healthcare professionals and staff, and frequently with individuals at director level or above.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program, or 1 year of related clinical patient care experience within the last 5 years in lieu of a Medical Assistant program.
Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated patient care skills.
Demonstrated PC skills.
Ability to organize a multitasking role effectively.
Understanding of healthcare delivery processes in a medical office.

Nice To Haves

One year of related clinical patient care experience within the last 5 years is preferred in lieu of completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and respond sensitively to their needs and condition.
Assess and document patients’ general condition, including chief complaint, vital signs, weight, medications, and social history; verify symptoms and interventions in the medical record.
Record services and diagnoses for encounter forms, requisitions, consent forms, and advance beneficiary notices.
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments according to established protocols.
Perform ancillary services independently, including venipuncture and x-rays, according to protocols.
Maintain medical records, including preparing charts and filing correspondence and test results.
Coordinate care through patient telephone messages, appointment scheduling, prescription refill communications, and other protocol-based activities.
Use the EMR and other computer applications according to policies and procedures.
Track ordered or pending tests, procedures, and referrals according to protocol.
Administer oral medication and intramuscular injections as directed by physician order.
Determine eligibility and obtain authorization for services.
Schedule tests and appointments for referred services and track referrals.
Promote patient wellness by providing education as directed by the provider.
Use advanced clinical knowledge or experience to resolve patient questions and meet patient needs.
Participate in quality initiatives and safety functions.
Help identify and order needed supplies.
Remain informed about and comply with Health System, Warren Clinic, OSHA, and HIPAA policies and procedures.
Maintain exemplary patient satisfaction and participate as an engaged team member.
