About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to physicians and mid-level providers, gives patients instructions as directed by providers, and helps ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations. The role also supports the office’s business operations and contributes to a positive experience for patients, family members, and visitors. Associates are expected to demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy toward patients, families, visitors, and coworkers regardless of cultural background.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations and obtain vital signs, weight, general history, and current medication lists when required.
Provide patient care and clinical support during examinations, including acupuncture needle removal, stimulator application, needle counts, venipuncture, injections, and EKGs.
Document clinical findings and patient responses to interventions, including history, medications, vital signs, weight, and test results.
Collect and provide providers with completed laboratory or test findings intake forms, physician referral information, diagnostic imaging results, and cardiopulmonary test results as available.
Provide patient instruction under the direction of the provider.
Maintain adequate supplies in examination rooms and workstations; clean and disinfect examination rooms; and report equipment malfunctions to the department supervisor.
Assist the Clerical Coordinator/Registrar as needed, including with referrals, outpatient testing, pre-certification, and scheduling.
Collect and distribute patient information accurately and promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
