About The Position

UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals. The role helps ensure patients receive quality, patient-centered care and supports smooth daily office operations. The position offers an opportunity to build clinical skills, collaborate with experienced healthcare professionals, and contribute to the patient experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the RQI program.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certification through a Medical Assistant school licensed by New York State.
• Previous experience in a physician's office or other healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, assist providers with medical procedures, and perform preliminary assessments.
• Obtain vital signs and perform EKGs, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and specimen collection as ordered.
• Accurately document patient information, vital signs, communications, and reports in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Complete required documentation, including disability forms and other patient reports.
• Coordinate referrals, communicate appointment details to patients, and track specialist reports.
• Assist with pre-visit planning, chart preparation, and follow-up on testing and referral needs.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient patient flow and quality care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
