About The Position

The Medical Assistant will demonstrate the ability to triage patient phone calls and respond with accurate information. They will respond to medication refill requests as well as complete medication prior authorizations as needed. This role also involves obtaining prior authorizations for in-office procedures in Gynecology and Urology, maintaining patient flow in the clinic, and responding to requests for information in an appropriate way. The Medical Assistant will perform procedures in the office setting, under direct supervision and direction of the practitioner, and organize the clinic efficiently and effectively. They will contribute to a pleasant and cooperative team environment by stocking clinical rooms, ordering supplies, and rooming patients as appropriate. Additionally, they will accurately prepare and maintain patient charts, cross cover in Urology and other Specialty Practices as needed, and schedule surgical procedures efficiently for Gynecology and Urology as needed.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures, such as taking vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate), collecting patient specimens (blood, urine, etc.) administering medications (under the supervision of a healthcare provider), and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of office tasks, including scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, managing electronic health records (EHRs), verifying insurance information, and handling billing and coding processes.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills including the ability to explain procedures, educate patients on treatment plans, and provide emotional support.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of infection control protocols and safety measures to prevent the spread of diseases including proper hand hygiene, using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, maintaining a clean and sterile environment, and following safety regulations.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of medical ethics and legal principles, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
