About The Position

Logan Health is hiring a Medical Assistant Trainee, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) for its Orthopedics & Sports Medicine team in Kalispell, Montana. The role supports patient care, clinic flow, provider needs, and daily operations in a specialty clinic serving patients with bone, joint, muscle, and sports-related conditions. Applicants may be starting a healthcare career or bringing existing Medical Assistant experience. The team offers paid, hands-on training for trainees working toward an RMA credential, along with opportunities for learning and professional growth. The Medical Assistant helps provide a positive patient experience through compassionate care, clear communication, and teamwork. Clinical duties are performed within Logan Health’s defined MA/UAP scope of practice and only after required training and competency validation. Trainees must complete required training, onboarding education, and competency validation before performing assigned clinical duties. The position is full-time on an eight-hour day shift. Schedules are set to meet the position’s and organization’s needs and may be adjusted as needed. Requirements

For the Medical Assistant Trainee pathway, no prior Medical Assistant certification or clinical experience is required; candidates must meet the training requirements of Logan Health’s Medical Assistant Trainee program.
For CMA positions, current certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or AMCA is required.
For CMA and RMA positions, obtain RQI Provider (BLS) within seven days of hire or transfer, or before independent patient care, whichever comes first.
Successfully complete all required onboarding education and competencies before performing competency-specific patient care tasks.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Commitment to professionalism, patient confidentiality, integrity, kindness, and empathy.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software as needed.

Nice To Haves

Post-high-school education or vocational training in healthcare for RMA candidates; other combinations of education and clinical setting experience may be considered.
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential is welcomed.
Previous medical office or clinical experience.
At least one year of experience in a practice setting is preferred for CMA candidates.
Medical terminology training and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, basic laboratory values, and pharmacology.
Familiarity with medical equipment, patient safety practices, aseptic techniques, and infection control.
Knowledge of HIPAA, patient rights, and healthcare confidentiality requirements.
Experience using electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

Welcome, room, and prepare patients for examinations and treatments, including obtaining medical histories and vital signs.
Assist physicians and advanced practice clinicians with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
Prepare examination rooms, medical equipment, and supplies according to patient and provider needs.
Perform competency-validated clinical tasks, which may include specimen collection, dressing changes, suture and staple removal, and assisting with splints or casts.
Accurately document patient information and care activities in the electronic medical record.
Coordinate appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, procedures, and follow-up care.
Respond to patient calls and portal messages, directing clinical concerns to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Maintain clean, organized, and disinfected patient care areas and equipment.
Support daily clinic operations and collaborate with team members to provide efficient, compassionate patient care.
Complete required training, onboarding education, and competency validation before performing assigned or competency-specific clinical duties.
