About The Position

Corewell Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for its Gastroenterology practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The practice cares for patients with acute and chronic conditions, including esophageal, pancreatic, liver, and lower abdominal issues, Crohn’s disease, colitis, and cancer. Patients may receive long-term care or one-time consultations.

The Medical Assistant is part of the clinical support team and works closely with other healthcare professionals to support patient care. The practice describes its culture as collaborative, with providers, nurses, medical assistants, and patient service representatives working together in a safe, open, and honest environment.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position on the day shift. Corewell Health offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus to eligible external applicants and current CHW MA Apprentice Students.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training, or at least one year of experience working specifically as a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic, or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• One of the following certifications required within 120 days: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA).
